Financial Analyst Full Time

Financial Analyst:

As our Financial Analyst, you will be part of the finance team that is relied upon by senior management to provide operational and financial effectiveness to the organization. The financial analysis is responsible for budgeting, forecasting and providing financial analysis for specific business units across the organization.

Working with departments to develop forecasts and budgets.  Gathering financial and qualitative information and performing due diligence and validation
Assisting in preparing and reviewing departmental, product and project financial statements, including making appropriate accruals when required
Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial packages inclusive of variance commentary
Reviewing financial statement variances to ensure appropriateness of revenues &/or expenses
Analyzing information and developing reports to drive the business to improve performance
Advising business owner on options to get financials on track to budget
Providing financial inputs to Management reports and Board/Shareholder reporting
Assisting with business casing by creating financial models using spreadsheets to determine feasibility of projects (metrics include Net Present Value (NPV) calculations & Break-Even Analysis)
Collecting data and assisting in the process of renewal and/or modification to the organizations insurance policies
Assisting the accounting department with year-end analysis
Doing ad-hoc financial analysis

Who are you?

You have a University degree or College Diploma in accounting or finance
You have a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial statement analysis
You are an advanced user of Excel and have experience using lookup functions, nested if statements, choose functions, as well as experience using data table and pivot table functionality
You have experience with Canadian ASPE accounting standards
You enjoy doing financial analysis and have some experience in business casing
You have proven problem-solving skills; are detailed oriented, and have strong time management skills
You are a clear and effective communicator (both written and verbal)
You have strong collaboration skills and a team player attitude and would enjoy assisting others within and outside the finance department
You have experience in JDE or other enterprise accounting software (this is an asset)
You have experience in Vena Solutions or other budgeting/forecasting software (this is an asset)
