Manager, COO Functions Advisory Full Time

What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Functions Advisory will assist in advising key members of the COO leadership team through financial advisory. The Manager will build strong connectivity with the COO Functions business with a primary focus on Business and Client Services (BCS) and align efforts to support their strategic initiatives and enhancing Finance’s partnership.

The Manager will provide financial advice in the creation of a scalable comprehensive framework for project controls, reporting and analytics, with a specific focus on select major programs; as well as enable strategic business decisions through financials analysis including investment / initiatives prioritization, staffing and asset planning.

What will you do?

• Prepare financial insights for COO Leadership Operating Committee (SVP/VP) and BCS Operating Committee to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management.  This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group’s interactions with other CM businesses on a recurring basis
• Further enhance and build on Finance’s internal capabilities in cost reporting to further proliferate learnings and best practices across CM Finance’s Advisory teams
• Building subject matter expertise on all cost lines and opportunities that can be used to further support cost saving initiatives
  Support continuous monitoring of key metrics by delivering exceptional financial analysis and play a pivotal role in building CM Finance’s capabilities to support CM’s strategic priorities around productivity and efficiency
• Perform select month end close activities
• Responsible for the financial governance, reporting, controllership and advisory to a select few CM major projects such as IBOR, and RMR
• Proliferate the use of technologies such as Tableau and automation to create scale and standardization across projects

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• 2+ years’ experience in complex wholesale business activity, namely a thorough understanding of Capital Markets businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns
• Experience in management reporting and analysis and/or financial resource optimization (capital, funding, and liquidity).
• Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize groups to deliver on common goals
• Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on a continuous basis

Nice-to-have    

• CPA or CFA or Finance MBA highly preferred
• Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instruments
• Experience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics
