Senior Java Developer – Mobile Services Full Time

What is the opportunity?

RBC’s Digital Team is seeking an experienced Mobile Services Senior Java Developer to join the Mobile Services team. Your expertise will lead the design, development and maintenance of Services on platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry, providing service integration, orchestration, authentication & application session management for mobile applications.

What will you do?

• Work with architecture and business sponsor(s) to assess, design and estimate solutions, assuming end-to-end technical responsibility and engaging IT partners into implementation while adhering to enterprise-level and group-level standards and best-practices within mobile banking
• Responsible for the design, coding and implementing the project solution as defined by the solution architecture and resolving design ambiguity
• Coordinate with rest of the team to deliver high quality, reliable and high performance solution
• Participant in peer code reviews and technical meetings

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Proven work experience in large projects or programs interfacing with multiple applications and/or third-parties
• Solid grasp of OO (Object Oriented) principles
• 3+ years’ experience with Java technologies such as: Spring, Spring Boot, J2EE, JAX-WS and JAX-RS
• Expert in designing and implementing application programming interface (API)
• Service development experience on cloud platform (PCF, OCP, Azure, AWS, GCP, etc)
• Experience in Open Authorization (OAuth 2.0) and different integration models
• Experience with Source Code Management system such as GIT and DevOps tools such as UrbanCode Deploy, Maven and Jenkins
• Experience with Webservices (SOAP and REST), Oracle Database and Asynchronous Messaging technologies (eg. MQ, Kafka)

Nice-to-have

• Familiarity and experience with IBM SAP Mobiliser platform, Apache Tomcat, JBoss
• Understanding of Web technologies including: Javascript, CSS3, HTML 5, Jquery
• Experience at a Financial Institution and related product/process knowledge
• Undergraduate Computer Science or Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
