Business Systems Developer – Finance (Remote) Full Time

About the role
As a Business Systems Developer, you will be a part of the Technology Acceleration team – we “build the Shopify that runs Shopify”.  You will be focused on building and maintaining the applications that give superpowers to our Finance business operations, enabling a world-class finance team to deliver on the Shopify mission to “make commerce better for everyone”.

You will be:

• Working with a small team, collaborating on, and contributing to the design and evolution of our Finance business system landscape
• Building and extending custom solutions on the Netsuite development platform
• Building and extending custom applications in Ruby on Rails, React (or TypeScript) leveraging all of the amazing Devops tools that Shopify has to offer
• Partnering with other teams at Shopify to build data integrations between disparate systems and warehouses
• Embracing the abundant opportunities to learn and grow constantly to feed your passion for self-improvement and make those around you better
• Working through problems with your team, rolling up your sleeves, forming an opinion, and advocating for engineering opportunities on the Finance roadmap

  Qualifications
  You have experience with:

Client-side development.  You’ve worked extensively with Javascript and HTML in a cloud-based (SaaS) application environment
NetSuite administration and development.  You are a certified Netsuite Developer (and you might have the SuiteCloud Developer or Netsuite Administrator certifications to prove it!) or you have done enough work with Netsuite to call yourself an expert
Curiosity about business operations.  You get excited about automating mundane work and have a proven track record for delivering great solutions
Careful and clear communication. You are a great listener, ask insightful questions to get all the necessary information, and know how to manage expectations
A collaborative approach with your team. You stay cool under pressure and look for ways to support your teammates
Bonus Experience:

Developing in React (or TypeScript) and Ruby. You have some full stack software development experience and you’re keen to grow this craft
Creating integrations between systems.  You have built integrations using platforms like Dell Boomi and Mulesoft
Understanding of commonly used systems, business workflows, and processes in finance.  You have worked across a landscape of business systems that support Accounting, FP&A, Treasury and Procurement.  You have public company experience and appreciate the importance of internal controls
