Role Summary:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for design and implementation and support networking and telecommunications infrastructure solutions to both internal and external clients as part of a multi-discipline team. The Network Engineer is a subject matter expert who diligently assists with the improvement of service level on our data networks; provides input to the overall architecture, governance model and provides executive leadership, standardization and validation of the effectiveness of our infrastructure that is standards based, high performance, highly available and secure in delivering the required business functionality.
Key Accountabilities:
Serve as a subject-matter expert to design solutions for data networking environment to meet all business requirements;
Work closely with other project delivery teams to design high availability solutions for connectivity;
Serve as 2nd level support for our networking environment. Analyze and troubleshoot network related problems & issues at all layers of the networking stack (principally layers 2 & 3);
Responsible for implementation of networking projects, including working with vendors & business partners to ensure that installations meet service level objectives;
Participate in networking standards development and implementation
Analyze commercially available data networking products and services to determine and recommend specific solutions;
Effectively present information and respond to queries from senior management, clients and customers in a professional manner.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Computer or Software engineering;
Possess a CCNP/CCNE certification;
Minimum of 5 years of experience, hands on experience with implementation of network environments utilizing industry standards and best practices for local datacenters and in Cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud etc.);
Outstanding troubleshooting skills and with working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux;
Very deep TCP/IP knowledge and experience including multicast;
Proficient in using Python, REST API, Shell or Ruby scripting to automate and solve network issues including problem identification, resolution, tooling, and reporting;
Experience with specific networking options, such as 802.1q, FCoE, BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, DWDM, VXLAN;
Nice to have:
Experience with ACI and ANSIBLE
Experience with Network Gear
Experience with IPv6 an asset;
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (for Engineers in Québec);
Notes:
This position requires being available on evenings and weekends in an occasional basis
This position can be based out of Montreal or Toronto
