Department Overview :
The TMX DOCoE enables and supports the successful delivery of business value. This is done by partnering with Clusters, Squads, Shared Services, Corporate Functions and Stakeholders to validate delivery approach, establish fit for purpose best practices, establish critical process gates, helping to identify risks/issues and mitigation strategies while governing overall delivery.
Role Summary :
This role will lead specific projects, typically with a large infrastructure and development operations scope that are part of a larger program. The program is a key strategic pillar for the Equities Trading business and this role will take direction from the Program Manager. The ability to deliver on technology-based projects AND understand the business value is critical to success.
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, delivery and execution of projects for the entire delivery life cycle, applying established TMX standards and best practices. The PM plays a leadership role to ensure projects are successfully delivered on time, on budget, with good quality while making certain clients are put first and the goals of the program are met. The PM works closely with the Program Manager, Equities Trading business and various GTS leaders to ensure project plans are developed realistically and resources are assigned accordingly.
Key Accountabilities :
The Project Manager will be assigned specific projects within the Program and will be accountable to plan, control and execute upon approved projects by carrying out the following activities using TMX standard processes and toolsets:
Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
Create an integrated plan that details how scope, schedule, costs, communications, resources, dependencies, risks/issues, quality, change vendors (where applicable) and other key aspects of the project will be managed
Develop a detailed schedule for the project that identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project and effectively allocates the resources to the work
Review the project schedule with the Program Manager and senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
Execute the project according to the project plan and ensure any deviations are communicated to the Program Manager
Closely monitor approved project budget, scope and timelines, actionning variances on a timely basis, leveraging standard project change request processes and as outlined by the program
Ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and approved and are stored centrally
Monitor the progress of the project and adjust course where required to ensure successful delivery, escalating where appropriate
Provide regular project status to the project team and Program Manager as per established TMX standards
Raise and manage risks and highlight interdependencies to Program Manager for escalation as appropriate
Lead the project team in re-estimating project effort and costs at the appropriate gates
Skills and Experience :
Must Have(s)
Minimum 5 years’ experience within an Information Technology environment delivering on business-driven initiatives, ideally in Capital Markets/Equities Trading for Financial Institutions
Demonstrated experience with direct management of infrastructure and/or Development Operations projects and understanding of the business value and purpose
University/undergraduate degree in related discipline or equivalent PM work experience within the financial services industry
Ability to successfully navigate and deliver within a fully matrixed environment that is complex and somewhat ambiguous
Demonstrated leadership, with the ability to motivate and effectively manage teams
Excellent written and verbal communications
Background delivering projects using SDLC, Iterative and Agile methodologies
Experience with end to end project delivery (includes managing both the business and IT phases of a project)
Excellent relationship building abilities and understanding that partnership is key to successful delivery
Prior experience working within a program
Nice to Have(s)
Prior experience in Capital Markets and/or Equities Trading
Prior experience using Workday as a PPM
PMP certification Client and vendor relationship management skills
Certified SCRUM Master
Experience with Oracle, Benchmark and other relevant vendors
